Oracle install: Database Config Assistant for 10g on Professional 2005-01-20 - By TS Rick Gruber-Riemer
Hi I am trying to install Oracle 10gR1 on SuSE Prof. 9.2 for x86. I choose Standard Edition and did not change any of the installed products. Everything seems to be fine and the only warning I get is for libmotif, which is ok. I can install the database without a starter database. However if I want to create a starter database as recommended, I get errors in the Database Configuration Assistant: # ORA-12154 (See ORA-12154.ora-code.com): TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified # ORA-01031 (See ORA-01031.ora-code.com): insufficient privileges. When i try to ignore these warnings several times the installation continues, but tells me that "Enterprise Manager configuration failed due to ... database instance unavailable". Looking into the logs in $ORACLE_HOME/admin/DHDEVL/create tells me the same ORA -12154, ORA-01031 (See ORA-01031.ora-code.com), ORA-01012 (See ORA-01012.ora-code.com) and SP2-0640 errors. After all I cannot start the dbconsole, because ... OC4J_DBConsole_linux1.tstyr .dk_DHDEVL not found. Tnsnames.ora and listener.ora in $ORACLE_HOME/product/10gR1/network/admin look fine. I am using a workstation connected via DHCP, but have set the hostname to linux1.tstyr.dk. Can anybody help me? Best regards ... Rick
